This is my final 20 rectangles project, it is a windmill.
For this project we had to design a object that incorporates 20 rectangles that specifically addresses one of the four areas of design listed below.
Object Design- It includes design of products, packaging, furniture, appliances, and transportation.
Information Design- It includes design for magazines, books, web sites, computer graphics, video, film, television, advertising, and any time information or ideas are being communicated visually.
Environmental Design- Design of environments includes architecture, landscape, urban planning, interior design, facility design, exhibit design, commercial and recreational spaces, and any place where we live, work, or play.
Experience Design- Sometimes called interaction or event design. Example are theme parks, shopping malls, video and computer games, festivals, exhibits.
Materials you were allowed to use were mat board, color-spray paint of your choice, and clear glue. The criteria is the object must fit in a 6x6x6 space. The object must sit on all 6 sides. the object must contain exactly 20 rectangles, and no holes cut into rectangles. The object may incorporate one other color, only using spray paint. The procedures are develop a theme, then sketch at least 4 different understandable ideas, after that you select the best one based on the criteria, then construct your idea using cardboard first, then create it using mat board that was provided, and finally you submit your designed object along with 4 sketches, the model and finished product, and at least a 4 paragraph written description of the project. I learned in this project don't procrastinate when doing a big project like this, because it doesn't help your project. Also that it takes a couple times to make something look right, only using 20 rectangles.
3 designs ideas that I had for this project. The first one is a snowman, the second is a giraffe, and the third one is the windmill.
This was the 4th design and it is a picture frame.
